Scotch Oats Dressing

This is an old family recipe that we had every Christmas from quite a while back. It is simple, filling and entirely Scottish in every way.


  • 2 cups scotch oats oatmeal (or steel cut oats)
  • 1/4 cup suet
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Mix together in in bowl and either cook in bird or to cook in foil using one packet of chicken bouillon for one hour until done.
